Our Kaleidoscopic God?

Great is our Lord and of great power; His understanding is inexhaustible and boundless - Psalm 147:5.

To describe something as kaleidoscopic means that it consists of a lot of different colours, patterns, shapes or parts, or that it has a complex patterns of colours; or is rainbow-like.

A Kaleidoscope Diamond

The Kaleidoscope Diamond stands out in all of its gemmological attributes.  It has 24 additional precisely placed facets that allow for light, sparkle, and brilliance that surpass any other diamond. The design of the Kaleidoscope Diamond breaks up more of the white light and releases it as radiant and dazzling spectral colours. The amazing suite of mesmerising coloured flashes appearing deep within the Kaleidoscope Diamond is an astonishing phenomenon.

It sounds like something I have heard before:

2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Revelation 4:2-3.

Kaleidoscopic Creation

Biodiversity, refers to the variety of life on Earth. It measures variation at the genetic, species, and ecosystem level.  Earth's current species are estimated to range from 10 million to 14 million, of which about 1.2 million have been documented and over 86 percent have not yet been described.

More recently, in May 2016, scientists reported that 1 trillion species are currently estimated to be on Earth with only one-thousandth of one percent described.

For instance, did you know that there are 30 thousand varieties of the rose flower? And, according to American anthropologist Carleton S. Coon there are 5 different races of humanity; about 175 major ethnic groups and about 206 nationalities in 195 countries of the world?

It makes you respect and appreciate God’s vast creative handiwork as well as what makes other people different, for example, in terms of race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender and ability. When we do this we are actually honouring God. Appreciating the boundless and inexhaustible creativity of God in the world causes us to understand the complexity of His mind.

God created diversity in the cosmos for a very good reason. It points to Him as the Almighty Creator – just so we can stand in awe. We realise He is not one thing or the other; He is multi-faceted and multi-dimensional. We cannot fathom the depth of His wisdom. His wisdom, knowledge and understanding is Kaleidoscopic!

Therefore, if creation in its glorious biodiversity was the act of an Almighty Creator, what is the nature of the Creator? How vast could He be? How could we describe Him? What could contain Him? Could we really describe Him as Kaleidoscopic?

Therefore, if God’s creativity is so vast as to design 1 trillion species, what could image-bearers like us accomplish?

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.  Genesis 1:27.

Could the Creation Mandate in Genesis to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, mean more than numbers? Could it have included creativity and making the world a beautiful place so that every man, woman and child would live the full and abundant life?

In our redemption through Jesus Christ, that Mandate has been restored and further expanded in the Great Commission.

Humanity has achieved a lot over the ages. Very true. To name a few, some of these significant steps include: the declaration of human rights; democracy; the United Nations; exceptional works of art including Shakespeare, Bach and Michelangelo; ocean voyages, trains, airplanes, putting a man on the moon; vaccines; the Olympics; climbing Mount Everest; the great pyramids; the fall of the Berlin Wall; the end of segregation and apartheid; the environmental movement; the great advances of science and technology, etc.

Despite these, could we still have the capacity for more? Especially with the New Creation Reality that Jesus paid a high price to obtain for us. Is there more creative potential within our grasp? Could we use our godly intelligence in more imaginative ways for the betterment of humanity?

Take this into the workplace. What could you do in the workplace to better facilitate the Kingdom of God and the gospel? How could you live differently, more dynamically and more confidently? Could you ask God for more creative ways to engage with your colleagues in the workplace? Could you think outside of the box? Take off your religious goggles and put on the mind of Jesus Christ. So that just like the Kaleidoscopic Diamond, we can demonstrate so many facets that allow for light, sparkle, and brilliance in our every day existence that surpasses what we could ask, think or imagine.

We have an inexhaustible and boundlessly creative, loving and wonderful Heavenly Father.

It influences you to regard and value God's immense inventive handicraft and also what makes other individuals extraordinary, for instance, as far as race, ethnicity, nationality, age, sex and capacity. When we do this we are really regarding God. Valuing the unfathomable and unlimited imagination of God on the planet makes us comprehend the intricacy of His brain.
