What is Your Vision for 2018?

CIG MeetingFor Jesus at a particular time in His ministry, His vision was acted out by washing His disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17)

Jesus washed his disciples’ feet because he wanted to set an example for the disciples on being a Servant Leader...

We see that Peter, one of his closest pals, first of all refused for Jesus to wash his feet. Have you experienced anything like this before?

Like Jesus, sometimes when we move in the direction of our God-given purpose, people around us are uncomfortable and overwhelmed by our kindness, so they refuse the love we are extending to them. In this case, Jesus' response was to persevere. He was clear on what His purpose was for that season and didn’t let Peter talk him out of it.

Eventually, when Peter realised why Jesus was washing the disciples’ feet, he then took on another persona and decided to take advantage of Jesus's example of servanthood. He said 'Don't just wash my feet, wash my hands and head.  It appeared that Peter through his lack of understanding what Jesus was doing, inadvertently tried really hard to distract Jesus from His purpose/mission.

It is so easy to fall victim to other people's agendas to the detriment of our own personal call, team or departmental vision. Even so, the Grace of God abounds always and His mercies are new every morning.

This story has prompted me to re-visit my own life and I'm taking some time out reflect on my vision/mission to make sure I am still where I think God wants me to be. Would you like to join me in penning the answers to the following questions in your personal journal?

  • Do you have a personal mission/vision statement?
  • What would it look like if you had one?
  • How does your personal mission align with your role in the workplace?
  • How does your personal mission support your Christian network activities in the workplace?
  • How does your Christian network activities support the vision of your department or organisaiton?

"Where there is a vision there is provision",

Till next time.
