| Sheffield Christian Group | | Hi Ros
Thank you for the information that you provided below.
As a bit of an update - we had our first Friday lunchtime meeting in Victoria Hall Methodist Church today. It is a lovely venue – really light and friendly right in the Centre of Town with big sofas, comfy seats and a café! It is perfect for growth and putting on events to invite others along to.
This last week has been really exciting as I have got emails from different people saying “I’ve heard about your group and would like to come along” or “can I invite other Christians that I know who work for the Council”? We now have about 10 Christians who are part of the group and it sounds like there are plenty more – I have been amazed at the level of appetite that seems to be out there and that’s just by word of mouth!
I have arranged for a core group of four of us to meet after work next Monday (the original four people who started praying a couple of months a go!) The aim is to go through a list of questions and brainstorm values, aims, leadership, format of meeting, reaching out to others and to discuss whether it is right to become a formally recognised Christian group. I can see that there is a lot of potential value in it but I want to make sure it’s fully thought through and feels right – I want to avoid a situation in which the group booms and then fizzles out because we’ve moved too fast and have tried to do something that looks humanly impressive rather than listening to God. Having said that if its right to move now the momentum seems to be there and I think we could have something very exciting on our hands!
